In May, Ontario staged two Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) drawings, according to a provincial government spokeswoman.

The Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) halted the release of draw information throughout the provincial election, which concluded on June 2.

On May 4, Ontario sent 57 invites to apply to possible nominees in the Expression of Interest (EOI) system pool with a score of 27 or higher who may qualify for the Employer Job Offer: In-Demand Skills stream.

Then, on May 26, the OINP issued 535 notices of interest to possible applicants with a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score between 281 and 461 who may be qualified for Ontario’s Express Entry Skilled Trades stream.

In-Demand Skills Stream

The In-Demand Skills Stream is more concerned with provincial demand than skill level. Numerous immigration schemes target jobs deemed “high skilled” by the government. Nevertheless, Ontario continues to have labor shortages in “low-skilled” occupations.

Foreign workers with prospective job offers in Ontario and nine months of cumulative job experience in the region within the previous three years are eligible to apply for the PNP. Seasonal employment is ineligible to fulfill the job requirement.

Part-time employment might be eligible if the applicant completed the requisite hours. It could entail either 1,200 hours of paid jobs in one job over 18 months or at least 30 hours per week of paid work in multiple jobs for nine months, totaling 1,200 hours.

There are several other qualifying conditions. Among other requirements, candidates typically need a high school diploma, a language score of at least 4 in all qualifications, and adequate settlement funds.

To get an invitation under this stream, applicants must create a profile in the Ontario EOI system. The province of Ontario rates applicant profiles using a scoring methodology.

It considers, among other things, education, employment experience, and desired location in Ontario. The objective is to assist individuals with the necessary skills and experience to succeed in the Ontario labor market.

Candidates that register for the EOI system are not guaranteed to be asked to seek a provincial nomination. The profiles in Ontario’s EOI pool are valid for one year. The OINP may at any moment contact registrants to request a nomination.

Ontario’s Express Entry Skilled Trades Stream

The federal Express Entry system oversees the applicant pool for the Federal Skilled Worker Class, the Federal Skilled Trades Class, and the Canadian Experience Class, three of Canada’s most important economic immigration categories.

To be eligible for the Skilled Trades Stream, applicants must have one year of full-time Ontario job experience, or the equivalent in part-time employment, in a skilled trade included in Canada’s National Occupational Classification’s Minor Group 633 or Major Group 72, 73, or 82. (NOC).

The Skilled Trades Stream does not need applicants to have a job offer, but they must complete all obligatory federal and provincial program standards.

Candidates selected for permanent residence in Canada through the Skilled Trades Stream earn 600 additional CRS points. They have practically guaranteed an Invitation To Apply for permanent residence in Canada through the Express Entry program.
