Ukrainians and their Canadian family members may now be qualified for a one-time payment of $3,000 per adult and $1,500 for kids under 17.

The funds are designated for Ukrainians who possess a legal Canada-Ukraine Authorization for Emergency Travel (CUAET). Applications must be filed through the online site of the Canadian government.

Eligibility Criteria For Financial support In Canada

To be eligible for financial support, Ukrainians should have a:

  • a CBSA-issued IMM 1442 document (tourist record, study permit, or working visa) carrying the designation “CUAET-AVUCU” when entering Canada.
  • a unique client identifier (UCI) number
  • direct deposit data for a Canadian banking institution

Payments are anticipated to be given via direct deposit within five business days after applying. Banks may need an extra three to five business days to complete the deposit. Additionally, Ukrainians must have a Canadian bank account for the authorities to deposit the payments.

The name on the account should match the name on the papers indicating temporary resident status. To be allowed to work, the government advises Ukrainians to obtain a Social Insurance Number (SIN) as quickly as possible.

Other Important Information That You Must Know

Additionally, the Canadian government has arranged three charter airplanes from Poland, the third of which landed in Halifax on June 2. If no alternative arrangements have been made, passengers will get temporary housing for fourteen nights.

The administration is seeking to spread this approach to other big cities. Canada also provides Ukrainians with settlement services like language instruction, assistance enrolling children in school, getting a bank account, and getting jobs.

Immigration Minister Sean Fraser stated in a government press release, “Our commitment to Ukrainians escaping Russia’s illegitimate conflict does not end when they come to Canada.”

“We will continue to assist refugees in living and thriving in communities around the country. This one-time financial help will be essential in addressing the immediate issues encountered by Ukrainians who fled so much to find a safe place in Canada.

IRCC got more than 259,000 CUAET applications between March 17 and May 25, 2022, and confirmed more than 120,600.
