Ottawa, July 16, 2025 — As previously announced, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) will accept up to 10,000 complete sponsorship applications under the Parents and Grandparents Program (PGP) in 2025.
Starting July 28, 2025, IRCC will begin sending invitations to apply over the course of approximately two weeks.
Who may be invited?
IRCC will invite potential sponsors who submitted an Interest to Sponsor form in 2020 but have not yet received an invitation.
If you submitted a form in 2020, check the email address you provided at that time, including your spam and junk folders, to see if you’ve been selected.
Because there are still many submissions remaining from the 2020 pool, no new Interest to Sponsor form will be accepted this year.
How to apply
If you receive an invitation, you can submit your application electronically through:
- The Permanent Residence Portal, or
- The Representative Permanent Residence Portal (if you’re working with a representative).
